With over 30 years of experience in the world of fashion and alterations, Creative Design and Alterations is a proud local business rooted in the vibrant Hawkes Bay community.
From a young age I had always loved clothing and dressing up. Having a Mum that encouraged good style and wearing tailored clothing, accompanied with the love for arts and crafts, I feel that my journey has been a natural progression into creating beautiful clothing. At the age of 18 I made a small collection of leather garments and headed up to Auckland to create my leather label, Indian Spirit.
Over time with working in different areas of industry, and raising two daughters as a solo mum, I took on different jobs in the industry to work around my children before taking on the Designer /Cutter for Bella Design International, specialising in custom made designer lounge, soft furnishings and yacht refurbishing. I also worked in heavy leather creating many different products and prototypes.
I returned home to the beautiful Hawkes Bay in 2006 and opened Creative Design & Alterations in Napier. Since then, I have been custom making a wide range of garments and products. I have always had the need to learn and create something new, nothing scares me more than repetition.
In 2016 I started HALKA which is a expression of my ethnic heritage and individual style and creativity which brings together unique, meaningful designs using beautiful luxurious fabrics.
My passion is not just about crafting clothes—it's about listening to your needs, being supportive, and encouraging you to express yourself fully. I believe that the right clothing can transform how you feel, boosting your mood and confidence in ways that go beyond just appearance. I want everyone who comes to us to have an enjoyable journey and to walk away feeling like the best version of themselves.
